Texas A&M football is gearing up to take on the Gamecocks, the start of a three-game conference road trip for the Aggies. Here’s why they’ll start it with a win.

In Week 7 Texas A&M takes on the South Carolina Gamecocks, a team that may be the biggest question mark of the SEC. Consistency hasn’t been the Aggies friend so far, but this is a whole different level. Simply put, this is a meeting of two teams who are great when they are on, but things can make a big turn in a hurry.

Can the Aggies pull this one out at the start of a three-game road trip? I think so, but let’s break down.

5. At Texas A&M, it’s tradition to beat South Carolina.

Texas A&M and South Carolina have played four times, the Aggies winning every single time. It’s been said that if something happens twice in Aggieland it is a coincidence, but if it happens three times it’s a tradition. It has now happened four times, so it definitely must be.

Let’s take a trip down memory lane, shall we? In 2014, Kenny Hill and company headed to Columbia for the first game without Johnny Manziel running the offense. That day, “Kenny Trill” was born as the Aggies won 52-28.

In 2015, we saw the berth of Kyler Murray after “Kenny Trill” made the decision to transfer to TCU and Kyle Allen was just bad, and that is putting it nicely. The margin of victory wasn’t as big in this one, but the Aggies won 35-28. If you haven’t heard yet, Kyler Murray is doing pretty decently at Oklahoma right about now.

In 2016, we saw yet another new quarterback- graduate transfer Trevor Knight. The Aggies won that one 24-13 and Trevor Knight didn’t transfer at the end of the season. Yes, I know it’s because he graduated- don’t remind me.

In 2017, we saw the same quarterback who will start this afternoon- Kellen Mond, though this time he isn’t anyone’s second choice. The Aggies won a close one at Kyle Field 24-17.

If the Aggies take one thing seriously, it’s tradition and if it’s tradition to beat South Carolina than it obviously must happen. Now, let’s get to the statistical reasons, shall we?
