Stanford football improved to 5-2 on the 2018 season with a thrilling win against Arizona State. What did we learn from the game?

Stanford has had its share of games that have gone to the wire recently. It first started with the overtime win against Oregon three weeks ago but the Cardinal seemed to continue playing well in key moments by making a last-minute stand to hang on for a 20-13 win against Arizona State.

In the low scoring affair, Stanford didn’t explode with the offense but the defense played its part in holding the Sun Devils to just six points through three quarters and a single touchdown throughout the game –– which was scored in the fourth quarter.

The victory against Arizona State may have provided a glimmer of hope as the Cardinal regrouped after a bye week to snap a two-game losing streak

Stanford may have two losses but Thursday night, it avoided running itself out of contention for the PAC-12 title. Here are three takeaways from their matchup with the Sun Devils.
