The 2018 Heisman Trophy race saw a few of the leaders in the clubhouse make big claims for college football’s most coveted trophy.

Look back: What did the Heisman Trophy ranks look like entering Week 8?

The 2018 Heisman Trophy race has been basically a one-man show for most of the season, as media pundits all over the country predicting Tua Tagovailoa will run away with the trophy.

So far he has played up to expectations by leading Alabama to an undefeated record while directing this potent offense. Before we get into the discussion of our top five, let’s take a look at our honorable mentions this week.

West Virginia had their bye week and after their stunning loss to Iowa State, fans can only hope that the time off was used to fix the issues in the passing game. Grier threw for only 100 yards and one touchdown in the loss. This week they face Baylor on Thursday night and he should go back to putting up 300+ yards per game going forward.

Ed Oliver makes his way back into the Heisman discussion with his continued superior play. And Houston’s last game against blank he posted 5 tackles and a sack in the win against Navy. Oliver is still in the discussion for the Heisman Trophy and if he continues the strong play he could see himself in New York for the ceremony at the end of the season.

Now that we look at our honorable mentions let’s take a look at our top five rankings this week.
