5. Tom Herman, Texas

Go ahead and fight me on this one, but I don’t think Tom Herman is the right fit to bring the Longhorns “back” to national prominence. The man can’t even swing a sledge hammer right.

Yes, he knocked out Oklahoma this season- even though his team almost blew it down the stretch over in Dallas at the Cotton Bowl. However, he still lost to Maryland to open the season for the second year in a row and was then upset by Oklahoma State two weeks ago. But hold on, the skid doesn’t stop there. The Longhorns lost to West Virginia due to some of the most heartbreaking plays I have ever seen.

This week, they face off against Texas Tech. This one will be live from Lubbock as the Red Raiders try to knock off the Longhorns for the second season in a row. Last year it was a Thanksgiving disappointment for Texas. Now, they are fighting to be sure that doesn’t happen again- just a few weeks earlier than last season.

This is a game that Herman has to win. If there is any program and alumni group that will find a way to get rid of you when they decide you are no longer of use, it’s the Texas Longhorns and their extremely nosy boosters.
