No. 15-ranked Florida football looks to regroup after an embarrassing loss to Missouri with a win against former coach Will Muschamp and South Carolina.

Yikes.

Florida came into their game against Missouri as a six-point home favorite over the Tigers and it seemed like they never had control of the game. They were up 3-0 after three empty drive to start the game. Missouri followed it up with a touchdown drive which was capped off with a 27-yard touchdown rush from Larry Rountree III to take a 7-3 lead. At halftime, Missouri had taken a 21-10 lead over the Gators and showed zero signs of stopping.

Missouri would go on to win 38-17 to effectively put Florida away. Dan Mullen brought national attention back to Florida by throwing Kyle Trask into the game late to replace a struggling Feleipe Franks who went 9-for-22 with a whopping 84 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Trask finished going 10-for-18 with 126 yards and a passing touchdown that came on his first drive of the game.

Unfortunately, the Gators are going to have to stick with Franks for the time being (unless the shock the world and throw in Emory Jones) due to the unfortunate injury to Trask. The redshirt sophomore went out for a trick pass and felt something pop in his foot. It turns out this pop was a bone in his foot fracturing and Trask is now out for the season after a minor surgery.

South Carolina had a more fruitful outing last weekend against Ole Miss. The game was an absolute offensive thriller with 1,126 combined total offensive yards. Jake Bentley threw for 363 yards and accounted for three total touchdowns. Bryan Edward caught four passes for 109 yards which included an incredible catch for a 75-yard touchdown.

Can the Gators figure out their offensive issues in time or will they revert back to the status quo?

Keys to Victory

OK, South Carolina, you went toe-to-toe with Ole Miss in a shootout and came out on top. Florida had problems moving the ball through the air against the 120th-ranked pass defense at home last week and even made a quarterback switch. The Gators are undoubtedly experiencing some issues after making a quarterback switch only to have to go back to plan A after an unfortunate injury to Kyle Trask. If South Carolina can find ways to score over 28 points against the 33rd ranked defense nationally, they win.

Florida has to know what they have going on offense. South Carolina gave up 379 yards and gave up 35 points on the ground to Ole Miss. If Florida can get someone going on the ground whether that be Jordan Scarlett, Lamical Perine, or Feleipe Franks then they will have a great chance of winning. The Gators do have a defense that is far and away better than Ole Miss’ and if they can force Jake Bentley to mess up then they are in a good spot to win.

Prediction

Florida is in a weird spot going into this game, but they are still the more talented team. Florida wont lose back-to-back home games and the Scarlett-Perine duo are going to run wild against the South Carolina defensive front.

Final Score: Florida 27, South Carolina 24
