Florida football trailed South Carolina for the majority of this one, but the Gators kicked it into gear when it mattered most and got the win at home.

South Carolina desperately fought for this win, but they didn’t get it as they let the Gators have their way late in the game- allowing two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. To say that South Carolina fans are disappointed is putting it mildly. What did we learn about both of these teams?

For South Carolina, we learned that this team is not made for the big time fights that SEC Football requires. The Gamecocks are not a team that has the fight in them to play and stay in big games, games they honestly should be winning. They’ll get two more wins this season, facing off against Chattanooga and then a rescheduled Akron game.

However, they face off against Clemson on Saturday, Nov. 24. That one will not be pretty for this South Carolina team. Will they put up more of a fight than Louisville did? Probably, but either way that one is going to be a game that the Gamecocks faithful may want to skip out on.

For Florida, we learned that no matter what Dan Mullen and company draw up Feleipe Franks is simply not the quarterback for the Gators. They won this game more due to fundamental failures by the South Carolina defense than anything that Franks or the rest of his team did.

Happily for them, the Gators get Idaho and Florida State at the end of the season- both games that this team should win with ease. However, the Gators have struggled late in the season, specifically, since they lost to Georgia, to play at the same level they started the year with.

Now the question is honestly this and it really has nothing to do with either of the teams who played this game. If the Gators beat LSU and now have lost to Missouri and nearly to South Carolina, how good is LSU really?
