2. Where does this leave Clay Helton and Chip Kelly?

Both of these coaches were considered to be at least semi hot seat candidates coming into this game. Chip Kelly had the Bruins at 2-8 heading into this game. No one was happy with that, not even close. However, he is in his first year and that should give him a bit of leeway, right? Not in the eyes of some fans, but he was able to relieve that tension at least a little bit by knocking off USC for the first time in four years.

That brings us to the man of the hour: Clay Helton. There are so many people that already want Helton gone. They think that he is a big part of why this team has underachieved in the way it has. They blame him for anything and everything that goes wrong, which now includes a loss to UCLA after being unable to produce much of anything in the second half.

Both of these coaches are feeling the heat. However, the performance of Chip Kelly’s team cooled his down significantly- as does the size of his new contract and how hard it would be to buy that out so soon. However, Helton’s hot seat just got that much hotter after a less than stellar performance by the Trojans.
