Will Michigan rout outweigh Purdue loss for Ohio State?

There is dominance and then there is what Ohio State has done to Michigan over the last handful of years. The Buckeyes are on a seven-year win streak over the Wolverines. Head Coach Jim Harbaugh has yet to beat Urban Meyer in his time at Michigan so far.

Everyone thought this would be the year. The Wolverines had been on a roll since losing to now undefeated Notre Dame in Week 1 and had rocketed into that No. 4 spot.

Then the Buckeyes happened.

The vaunted Michigan defense was no match for Heisman hopeful Dwayne Haskins and company as they trudged up and down the field at will. The final score? 62-39 Buckeyes. Is that win enough to lock down the spot for Ohio State? It might just be.

Of course, we have to look at the entire season. Where does the loss to Purdue leave Ohio State? That was not a pretty sight y’all, not in the least. They were dominated by the Boilermakers in every aspect of the game and lost 49-10. It is important to point out also that Purdue barely became bowl eligible. It came down to the last week of the season to get them there. Is that the kind of team that should be in that No. 4 spot — one who’s one loss is to a team that barely made it to the postseason?

Championship week brings the Buckeyes Northwestern. The Wildcats have given quite a few teams fits this season. Will the Buckeyes be next or will Ohio State dominate and earn that final spot?
