Florida football ran all over Michigan in the Peach Bowl. The Gators showed the world quite a bit about themselves. Can they compete for an SEC title in 2019?

Florida and Michigan faced off in the Peach Bowl to open the New Years Six slate. Many had pegged the Wolverines as the should be winner of this one. Everyone was sure that Jim Harbaugh was finally going to win a post season game that matters, especially after they basically wet the bed against Ohio State- again. Of course, that isn’t what happened as Feleipe Franks and company absolutely shredded the Michigan Wolverines.

Could Florida compete for an SEC title in 2019? Do they have the ability to take down Georgia and then maybe even Alabama? Let’s talk about why the Gators could just pull it off.

3. Florida torched a stout Michigan defense

The nation heard for weeks is how good the Michigan defense is. We have heard how the Wolverines would be able to easily shut down Feleipe Franks and company. Yes, Michigan was without some key components. Yes, Michigan lost to Ohio State who lost Purdue. Blah, Blah, Blah. The point is that Michigan was supposed to win this one handily due to a strong defensive front.

That isn’t how things went down though as Franks had his way on the ground against what was talked about as the best defense in college football. If that doesn’t tell you something about this Gator team and about what Dan Mullen is putting together down in Gainesville- I truly don’t know what to tell you.

The Gators won 41-15 and started on the path back to relevancy in the SEC.
