It was close for a minute, but Texas A&M football cruised the victory over NC State in the Taxslayer Gator Bowl. What did we learn from this one?

There was a lot of talk heading into this game about how Jimbo Fisher needs his team to win this bowl game to continue the positive momentum. NC State boasted a great defense and an even better offensive line and they were sure that they would be able to shut down Kellen Mond and his offense.

Of course, that isn’t how it worked out as the Aggies steamrolled over the Wolfpack after a close first half. It was 21-13 at halftime before Texas A&M quite basically took flight and finished the game in a 52-13 blowout. What did we learn from this one? Let’s talk takeaways y’all.

3. Trayveon Williams is officially one of the all-time greats.

Many Aggie fans will tell you how much they love Trayveon Williams, myself being one of them. Williams has been a staple in the Aggie offense for three years now, possibly staying for his senior year though nothing is set in stone for him as of yet.

What did Williams pull off in this one? Oh, he just broke the Texas A&M single-season rushing record with over 1,700 yards on the season, a record which was three decades old. He also set the Tax Slayer Bowl record for rushing yards with 236 and the longest rushing touchdown, a 93-yard touchdown run to basically put the game on ice, his third score of the game.

Simply put, Trayveon Williams has cemented himself not only as an all-time Aggie great, but an SEC great as well. If this is his last game in Maroon and White, it was quite the run.
