Texas A&M Football: Aggies’ Top 10 Moments of 2018
By Shelbie Warr
10. Donovan Wilson‘s game-clinching interception against Arkansas
This guy had to make his way into the rankings simply based on how much he has put forth for this program. Donovan Wilson is a three-year starter and fifth-year senior, having been granted a medical redshirt due to an ankle injury that ended his season in Week 1 last year. He didn’t let that stop him though, as he pushed his way back into the starting defense and put on a show, albeit full of questionable targeting penalties.
On that note, let’s talk about his superb play that has made it’s way onto our Top Plays of 2018 list: a game-clinching interception against the Arkansas Razorbacks in the Southwest Classic. I would say excuse the Titanic theme in the background, but it just makes the play that much better.
Texas A&M has never lost to the Arkansas Razorbacks since joining the SEC and if safety Donovan Wilson had anything to say about it, it wasn’t going to happen in 2018 either.
Despite a disappointingly close game and Arkansas driving late in the fourth quarter, Wilson was ready to put this one on ice so to speak. So what did he do? Follow the eyes of quarterback Ty Storey to the center of the field, cut in front of the wideout and pick the ball off to win the game for the Aggies. Congratulations on an amazing career in Aggieland Donovan, Aggies will always remember the big plays just like this one.
