3. Breaking the three-decades long losing streak to Florida

This is likely one of the saddest facts in College Football, but it is- or was- true. Kentucky had a three-decades long losing streak to Florida. For this game, you have to go back to Week 2 of the season when Florida had just barely cracked the top 25. Kentucky was not yet in the rankings as many still had categorized them as a basketball school.

However, the Wildcats had a different plan in mind from the start. They weren’t going to leave Gainesville with another loss. They had every plan to make this season different from all of the others and to do that- they had to beat the Florida Gators and beat them they did.

In this game, halftime showed that it could be just like recent years for Kentucky- a hard fought game that just fell apart near the end as they tried so hard to end a streak that they couldn’t hop over. The second half, however, was different. Terry Wilson and Benny Snell put up 14 points in the third quarter. Even more exciting, in the final seconds, Davonte Robinson returned a Florida fumble 30 yards to the house to put an exclamation point on a long overdue Kentucky victory.
