A local kid, Kaiir Elam has been high on Florida for some time and Dan Mullen looks like he’s close to landing one of the Sunshine State’s brightest stars. The four-star cornerback looks like he may be focusing on a final two of Florida and Georgia but the Gators have to feel good about their chances with Elam right in their own backyard.

The 6-foot-1, 182-pound corner from North Palm Beach has every took you want from a defensive back. He’s quick, physical, not afraid to step up and make a tackle and he’s an absolute ballhawk in the secondary.

Florida has been known for putting defensive backs in the NFL over the years and Elam has had to take notice of that and even with the coaching change, it’s an attractive destination for some of the country’s top recruits in the secondary.

Elam is ranked the No. 49 overall recruit and seventh-best cornerback in the 2019 class, per 247Sports. He would be a signing day gem for Mullen and could be a kid who’d get this 11th-ranked class into the top 10.

Don’t sleep on the likes of Miami, Ohio State and Oregon, either, as he has a lot of options, but expect it to come down to Georgia and Florida in the end.
