2. Ole Miss has to find a defense, fast

This team literally has one of the worst defenses the SEC has seen in an extremely long time. They ranked last or second to last in nearly every statistical category in the conference. For Kentucky, the defense carried a less than successful offense. For Ole Miss, a less than successful defense could not carry an offense that had every ability to stand up to just about anyone and at least put some points up on the board.

The change has already begun as the Rebels have hired former Colorado head coach Mike MacIntyre as their defensive coordinator. In 2016, MacIntyre took Colorado to a Pac-12 Championship Game after an 8-1 conference record and a 10-4 mark overall. However, his inability to recreate that kind of success ultimately led to his firing in late November of 2018.

All things considered though, it truly is a great hire for the Rebels. Before this, it really seemed as if the person who was supposed to be calling the plays defensively just took every game day off work. It wasn’t pretty y’all, not at all. This team needs defensive help and fast. Hopefully, it comes with good recruiting and this new coach leading the unit.
