Florida Football: 5 reasons to be optimistic about 2019 season

3. Kentucky could be on a bit of downslide
Florida’s biggest competition, outside of Georgia of course, is Kentucky. That was the team they were fighting with for second place in the East and, at a time before both lost to Georgia, first place. Now, however, things could get a little easier for Florida based solely upon what Kentucky has lost to the Draft after the 2018 season.
To start, they lost the cornerstone of their offense in Benny Snell. The junior running back broke record after record for Kentucky football and had a season to remember in 2018. Was he as good as the media would have you believe? That is a different argument for a different day. All things considered though, he was Kentucky good and that — in itself — is a great thing for them. However, losing him could put Kentucky on a downward spiral that they aren’t ready for.
They also lost the corner stone of their defense in linebacker Josh Allen. That young man put the team on his back multiple times to bail out a less than productive offense. Without Allen, it could be yet another downfall after a big year for the Kentucky WIldcats and if that is the case, Florida has quite a bit to smile about.
