Ohio State Football: Top 5 remaining targets for 2019 National Signing Day
Speaking of tackles who could be higher on Ohio State’s list, Dawand Jones reigns from Indianapolis and the Buckeyes have been pushing hard for him.
Just how much does Ohio State hope to have him in its 2019 class? Just a couple of weeks after an official visit to Columbus, the coaching staff are paying Jones an in-home visit — the weekend before National Signing Day. If that’s not extreme interest in a recruit, I don’t know what is.
The staff’s pitch may be quite simple: if you want to win right away and contend for Big Ten and national titles throughout your career, Ohio State is the way to go.
Penn State, USC and home-state Indiana are also in the running for Jones, but the Buckeyes look like the clear favorites to land the three-star. He’s not exactly a blue-chip recruit like the Buckeyes are used to landing on signing day, but you can’t be too upset with size and depth added to the trenches.
The 6-foot-8, 360-pounder is ranked the No. 1,010 recruit and 82nd-best offensive tackle in the 2019 class.
