Credit one in the win column to Dan Mullen and the Florida football coaches, as the Gators landed a commitment from four-star defensive end Khris Bogle on National Signing Day.

Bogle, a previous Alabama commit, made his announcement at his Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Cardinal Gibbons High School. He had held an offer from Florida when Jim McElwain was still the head coach of the program.

“I like it a lot because I can stand up or get down on the ground and just attack the quarterback on third down,” Bogle said. “Me and Coach (Todd) Grantham have the same idea in mind. Even talking with Coach Mullen is the same thing. Me coming in here and playing early, trying to get sacks, just the key stuff.”

The Gators have a huge hole to fill along the defensive line with the exit of Jachai Polite. Polite is expected to be a first round draft choice in the upcoming 2019 NFL Draft, and Bogle enters with the kind of ready-made size for the college game at 6-foot-3 and over 210 pounds.

It was a perfect opening for Florida to swoop in and nab Bogle from the Crimson Tide after Alabama lost Tosh Lupoi. Bogle selected the Tide during the All-American Bowl game over many of the top programs in the nation including reigning national champion Clemson, Texas A&M and Miami, but with Lupoi off to the NFL with the Cleveland Browns, he decided to re-open his recruitment.

Bogle was a monster for Cardinal Gibbons this past year, recording eight sacks and 54 total tackles in 15 games. His ability to rush the passer will be a key for Florida in its hopes of continuing to climb the SEC and national ladder.

As a junior, Bogle broke into the national scene with 13.5 sacks and 70 tackles after recording eight sacks and 36 tackles as a sophomore.
