Florida football is continuing its red-hot National Signing Day with the commitment of four-star cornerback Kaiir Elam from North Palm Beach.

The biggest news of National Signing Day, at least early on, was the flip of four-star defensive end Khris Bogle from Alabama to Florida.

Dan Mullen found a way to beat Nick Saban off the field for one of the top players in the class and he remained red-hot, landing four-star cornerback Kaiir Elam later in the afternoon. Both recruiting wins are huge for the program not only because they have led to a top-10 placement in the team rankings, but because they prove that Florida can compete with the best.

Elam was not committed, so he wasn’t a flip like Bogle was, but the North Palm Beach, Fla., native was also strongly considering Georgia.

In one day, Mullen beat out Alabama and Georgia for top-100 recruits — something that probably wouldn’t have happened under Jim McElwain.

Florida has become an attractive destination for top recruits and a blowout win over Michigan in a New Year’s Six bowl had to have helped matters.

Elam is a lockdown corner, standing 6-1 and weighing in at 182 pounds and he’ll continue the strong defensive back play the Gators have had over the years. The Gators currently have young starters in Trey Dean and C.J. Henderson, but don’t be surprised if Elam is pushing for starting snaps as a sophomore.

The four-star from Florida is ranked the No. 48 overall player and sixth-best cornerback in the 2019 class, according to 247Sports. Mullen is showing what he can do as a recruiter with the resources Florida provides.
