Florida Football: 5 signees who’ll have instant impact for Gators in 2019
Florida football caught fire on National Signing Day, reeling in a couple of big fish. Which signees will have an immediate impact in 2019?
What kind of impact did Florida’s dominant win over Michigan in the Peach Bowl have on recruiting? Apparently a big one as the Gators landed two of the nation’s top recruits early on National Signing Day with the inking of both Kaiir Elam and Khris Bogle — the latter was flipped from Alabama.
Momentum is on the Gators’ side heading into the 2019 season, but they will have some decisions to make with some of their incoming freshmen — who to play and who to redshirt.
Dan Mullen has plenty of talent at his disposal and he can’t be mad at the depth he’s accrued from this top-10 class, but are there any guys who could start right away for the Gators?
Which signees will have an immediate impact for the Gators in 2019?
Landing Kaiir Elam on National Signing Day was huge for the Gators, especially since they beat out the Georgia Bulldogs, keeping the four-star cornerback home for college.
Elam is one of those talented cornerbacks who has the athleticism to play both sides of the ball and whose receiver instincts will kick in at the next level to help him become an even better defensive back. He excelled as a receiver at the high school level and usually the best corners are the ones who know routes like the back of their hand and can make plays on the ball.
The 6-foot-1, 182-pound corner has the right size for the position and is plenty fast. His instincts are top-notch and he has incredible hands for a cornerback.
Though he may not start as a freshman, seeing as the Gators are bringing back two starting corners, he will likely see the field and burn that redshirt. Elam is too good to keep off the field, and the coaching staff will realize that in fall camp.
