Florida football was one of the biggest winners of 2019 National Signing Day but who tops the list for the Gators in 2020?

Who won National Signing Day? It’s tough to tell, but Dan Mullen and the Florida Gators made their case, flipping a four-star Alabama defensive end commit and then landing a top-60 cornerback in Kaiir Elam. Florida ended its 2019 class on a high note and is already looking ahead to 2020.

Mullen has proven to be one heck of a hire, using his improved resources in Gainesville — as opposed to Starkville — to his advantage. He landed a top-10 group and already has six four-stars committed to his 2020 class.

In order for the Gators to see success in 2019, Mullen needs to incorporate his talented crop of incoming freshmen and once he gets all of his guys in place, seemingly after 2020, they could be one of the teams to beat in the SEC.

Who tops the early recruiting board for the Gators in 2020?

If Florida wants to add speed to its roster, Ja’Khi Douglas is the way to go. The four-star wide out from Houma, La., isn’t just fast, he’s electric. He’s dangerous in space and can also be used as a kick or punt returner for the Gators.

Douglas can take a short swing pass that looks like it’s headed for disaster and turn it into a 50-yard touchdown catch and run. He’s shifty in the open field and once he gets past the first line of defense, it’s usually game over.

Some are already considering Douglas to be a Florida-lean, ranking him the No. 84 overall player in the class and the 16th-best receiver, according to 247Sports.

The speedy four-star is just 5-9, 184 pounds, but he can be plugged into that slot with the slight frame and have success in the SEC.
