How difficult will it be to reel four-star defensive end Chantz Williams away from Miami? Very, but that doesn’t mean Dan Mullen and Co. won’t at least try. The Gators are trending in the right direction while Miami is fresh off a coach resignation and hiring of the former defensive coordinator. That could only help the Gators.

Williams seems like he could be leaning toward the Hurricanes, but the Gators are right there along with Florida State. All-in-all, it looks like the four-star defensive end will be staying in the Sunshine State for college ball.

Why not go after one of the nation’s best defensive ends, especially since he’s in the Gators’ own backyard? Williams is an aggressive 6-4, 235-pounder who is listed as the fifth-best weak-side defensive end and No. 64 overall recruit in the class.

Florida could use more edge rushers and Williams is the kind of end who can get his paws on low passes and use his big frame to make both linemen and quarterbacks’ lives miserable. He could be a day one contributor wherever he goes.
