Arkansas Football: 5 fixes the Razorbacks must make in 2019
By Shelbie Warr
4. Wake up during conference play.
We now move from the teams you really have to beat to the teams that it would probably be a good idea if you could beat at least a few of, those pesky conference opponents. Arkansas finished 0-8 in conference play this past season. They barely lost to Ole Miss and Texas A&M, but otherwise it was a disappointing and less than fun regular season for the Razorbacks. Yes, beating those small teams is important. It is a record booster and for teams like Arkansas it could be the difference between a bowl berth or going home after Week 13 with nothing to do but recruit and hope things get better.
In 2019, Arkansas plays the entirety of the SEC West as per usual along with Kentucky and Missouri from the SEC East. Neither of those teams are going to be easy to face in the coming season as Kentucky is coming off one of their best seasons in program history and Missouri now has Clemson’s Kelly Bryant under center.
The West? Auburn is trying to tread water. Alabama is out to once again prove they are the best. Texas A&M has Jimbo Fisher and LSU is just being themselves. Mississippi State has an amazing defense and Ole Miss is recruiting their fins off- pun intended. That division of the conference is high flying and at this point it is a game of catch up for the Razorbacks.
