Florida Football: Way-too-early 2019 game-by-game predictions
If there was ever a sure-win on any team’s schedule, this would have to be it for the Gators. Hosting UT Martin in Week 2 will provide the Gators some momentum heading into their first SEC game as well as first road game of 2019 against Kentucky.
Tennessee-Martin had one of the uglier seasons of any FCS teams, going just 2-9 and finishing in eighth place in the Ohio Valley. The Skyhawks faced two FBS teams in 2018 — Missouri and Middle Tennessee — and allowed 112 points while scoring 51 total — 37 of those points came against the Blue Raiders.
Florida will have no problem in this one and it could potentially become Dan Mullen’s first shutout as head coach of the Gators.
UT Martin is going to have a tough time all afternoon long getting past the 50-yard line and that will lead to a second half with Emory Jones at quarterback after a cakewalk first half for Feleipe Franks and the rest of the offense.
On top of that, the defense will record three picks and one will be returned to the house.
Final Score: UT Martin 3, Florida 55 (2-0)
