The Emory Jones hype train is picking up some steam following the 2018 season as many believe that Feleipe Franks has reached his ceiling and the only way the Gators can contend with the likes of Georgia and Alabama in the SEC is if they start the soon-to-be sophomore.

Jones, a former Ohio State pledge, flipped his commitment to the Gators before 2018 National Signing Day and big things were expected from him almost instantly.

There’s an overwhelming feeling that if he doesn’t win the starting job this spring, he could transfer as Franks is set to be just a junior. However, the quarterback battle is set to be an exciting one and Jones never seems to be fazed by pressure.

As a freshman in 2018, Jones was 12-for-16 passing with 125 yards and two touchdowns and he rushed for another 41 yards. He’s a dual-threat, but he doesn’t put passing on the back-burner like most quarterbacks who can run.

Expect a big spring from Jones as he continues to battle with Franks for the starting job. This could be the most exciting quarterback battle in the SEC this spring.
