Brenton Cox played in 11 games as a true freshman in 2018, which means his redshirt was burned, but this shouldn’t be much of a surprise as he’s too good to keep on the bench.

The former five-star from Stockbridge, Ga., is one of those freakish athletes who can play both defensive end and linebacker, which is why he perfectly fits into that hybrid ‘Jack’ position. He stands 6-foot-4 and weighs in at 245 pounds, making him the perfect size for an end, but he’s athletic enough to play some linebacker.

Cox showed flashes of being a defensive stud in 2018 and finished with 20 total tackles, two for loss, a sack and three pass breakups. He did a little of everything and made life tough for opposing offenses.

But that was just the start.

We can expect to see much more of this kid in 2019, starting this spring, and he’ll be there to help replace a guy like D’Andre Walker. We can expect big things out of Cox in 2019 and he could be that next top NFL draft prospect, due to his versatility and high ceiling.
