In the new Saturday Blitz Podcast, John Mitchell and Zach Bigalke discuss college football transfers, win totals, and our three favorite victories as fans.

What does the NCAA’s decision to approve Miami QB Tate Martell’s waiver for immediate eligibility after transferring from Ohio State mean for the future of college football? Is college football free agency actually upon us, or is Martell’s case the beginning of the end for waivers like his as the NCAA looks to change legislation before the 2019-2020 school year?

That’s the first subject we tackle in the second edition of the Saturday Blitz podcast. If you missed last week’s episode, we discussed amateurism, scheduling, and the three worst losses we’ve both experienced as college football fans. You can listen to that podcast here.

Zach and I will be back each Wednesday discussing current events in college football to go along with some more personal topics that resonate with us as fans. In order to do that, we would love to get feedback from each and every one of our listeners, with potential suggestions for future topics or just things you would be interested to hear us discuss.

This week, to go along with the discussion of free agency, Zach and I took a look at some early win totals that were put up by BetOnline, and discussed which early numbers surprised us, and which we would be comfortable laying down some money on with five months still left between the start of the season.

For the more personal topic this week, Zach and I moved past the catharsis that came with the agony of defeat, and chose to discuss our three favorite victories as fans. Spoiler alert: both of us have fond memories of watching games when we were little with our fathers, and relatively innocuous victories stand out because of it.

What were your favorite victories, or just favorite moments as college football fans? Regardless of the team you cheer for, everyone has fond memories associated with the sport that help make all the inevitable painful losses worth it in the end. No sport can be more frustrating than college football, but I’ve never taken more joy from a sport than seeing my college football team win.
