Cam’ron Jones suffered a tough setback right away in 2018. He entered as part of Scott Frost’s first recruiting class but he was injured before the season and never saw the field.

Now, with a redshirt under his belt, he’s ready to take control of one of the safety positions, or at least make a push for starting time.

According to Frost, despite the injury Jones suffered before his freshman season, he’s been hitting the weight room hard. He has been one of the hardest workers for Nebraska off the field this offseason and he could see a major opportunity to play extended snaps starting this spring.

Nebraska’s defense could use a nice boost after ranking 75th in the nation against the pass a year ago and Jones could aid a rebound. The former four-star recruit and top-300 player in the 2018 class has a chance to crack the starting lineup with Tre Neal and Aaron Williams gone, but can he return to form after his injury-riddled true freshman season?
