Gator Nation welcomed Florida football back to the Swamp for the annual Orange and Blue game. Fans were treated to a high scoring affair and a few fun surprises.

Gator fans love offense and boy, oh boy, were the nearly 40,000 (early estimate) fans treated to a show during Florida’s 2019 spring game. When it was all said and done, the Orange team led by Feleipe Franks beat the Blue team by a final score of 60-35, setting a new spring game record for total points scored.

More records were set during the game. Franks nearly set a passing yard record and he tied the touchdown record for the game despite only playing in the first half. Trevon Grimes also set the record for receiving yards in the annual spring game.

The atmosphere was lighthearted with the festivities surrounding the game being almost as important as the actual game. In an effort to include more of Gator Nation in the celebrations, the two teams were “coached” by two boosters. Additionally, over 150 former Gator players were present for the exhibition.

The record-setting game propels the Gators toward an important summer offseason by helping to answer some of the important questions surrounding the roster. Nothing will be concretely decided based on the performances during this game, but some important takeaways can be made.
