If you’re looking for a guy who has patiently waited his turn and is now getting an opportunity to prove himself in his final season, it has to be Alex Davis.

The senior linebacker is likely to take over on the outside after a strong spring performance. Not only did he have a breakout scrimmage, the 6-5, 255-pounder from Florida was a consistent force all spring long and, from all accounts, something has clicked with him.

No one ever doubted his talent level, but rather his consistency. When he saw action, he just didn’t look like he had a full grasp of the defense, but something has changed and fans caught a glimpse of that in the spring game when he recorded a game-high two sacks and an interception while starting for the Red Team.

Davis is looking to finish his Nebraska career on a high note and after this impressive spring he has put together, that seems likely.
