Running Backs

Starting running back: Lamical Perine
Backups: Malik Davis, Dameon Pierce

Even with the loss of Jordan Scarlett, the Gators’ running back room is chock-full of talent. So much so, that there won’t be enough carries to truly highlight each running back’s full potential. That being said, Lamical Perine is the clear leader in the room and is expected to command the majority of carries in the upcoming season. Perine has continually improved during his Gator career showing off new skills with each new opportunity. His ability to catch the ball out of the backfield will add another dimension for the defense to worry about.

The Gators also welcome back the explosive and competitive Malik Davis from injury. Davis quickly shook off the rust accrued from missing most of last season to put together a solid spring. If he is able to stay health and produce like he did as a freshman in 2017, Davis can expect to see plenty of the ball.

Dameon Pierce is deserving of opportunities, too. The talented, young running back has had little chances in his young career, but coaches and players speak highly of his ability.
