After entering his name in the transfer portal on Thursday, Florida football’s Chris Steele could be looking for a new home. Where could he end up?

Dan Mullen received some tough news on Thursday afternoon as his star cornerback from the 2019 recruiting class, Chris Steele, was reportedly entered into the NCAA transfer portal.

Steele was on campus for just a few months as an early enrollee freshman and the Gators’ top-ranked 2019 signee. He was spending time on the field this spring with the No. 1s and it looked like he might contend for some starting snaps, which wouldn’t have surprised too many people.

In fact, he was the No. 42 recruit in the class and fifth-best cornerback out of Bellflower, Calif., per 247Sports. He held nearly 50 offers out of high school so essentially he could have attended any Power Five program he desired. He chose Florida over the likes of USC and Oregon and decided to part ways with his home state.

Did he feel a bit of homesickness in Florida, all the way across the country? It’s possible, but the main reason was he didn’t want to room with Jalon Jones who was accused of sexual assualt and it’s a big blow for the Gators as he becomes the second four-star early enrollee — Jones being the first — to enter the transfer portal following spring ball.

Here are three potential destinations for Steele if he decides to remain in the transfer portal.
