Will this finally be the week the Utes lose their perfect record? Probably not.
Although Justin Wilcox turned Cal into a bowl team last season after winning just five games in year one, he won’t be able to lead the Golden Bears past a red-hot Utah team in Salt Lake City on Oct. 26.

Chase Garbers does return at quarterback for his sophomore season, but he’ll be battling it out with UCLA-transfer Devon Modster for the starting job. Expect Garbers to win it, at least at the start of the year, and continue to prove himself as a solid passer at the collegiate level.
The Cal offense is a far cry from what it was under Sonny Dykes in years past, though, as it ranked 116th in scoring and 115th in total yards per game last season. With only four starters returning on that side of the ball, there could be even more growing pains and potentially even worse production, making this game a disaster.
Utah, on the other hand, will be a well-oiled machine heading into this one and the offense will continue to rise into the top half national in scoring and total yards after a slightly below average season in 2018.
Final Score: Cal 17, Utah 30 (8-0, 5-0)
