Florida Football: 5 most hated Miami players since 2000
2. Ken Dorsey
Over the span of his four-year Hurricane career, Ken Dorsey went 2-0 against Florida. Dorsey wasn’t just successful against the Gators, however, as he finished his final two seasons as a Heisman Trophy finalist.
What made Dorsey’s success so frustrating to watch, though, was the fact that he outgunned Florida’s Heisman hopefully, Rex Grossman, both times they played head-to-head.
In Miami’s 2001 Sugar Bowl victory over the Gators, Dorsey threw for 270 yards and three touchdowns. Grossman threw for 252 yards and one touchdown, managing to complete less than 50 percent of his passes.
In the teams’ meeting in the second game of the 2002 regular season, Dorsey threw for 202 yards and four touchdowns. On the other hand, Grossman threw for 191 yards and no touchdowns, completing an embarrassing 19 of his 45 passes.
Ultimately, it became difficult for Gator Nation to watch Dorsey lead the revival of the Miami program as the Florida program began its slide during the Ron Zook era.
In addition to finishing perfect against Florida, Dorsey set Miami records for passing yards, passing touchdowns, pass completions and attempts and victories for a starting quarterback. He also led the Canes to the national championship in 2001.
