1. All three quarterbacks will play for the Hurricanes

Jarren Williams will struggle against an experienced, ball-hawking defense. There are three scenarios where he could be pulled. The Gators return much of a secondary that allowed only 178.9 passing yards per game.

If Williams struggles and looks confused due to Florida’s coverage schemes and turns the ball over, N’Kosi Perry might come into the game. During the early part of the game, and Williams looks overwhelmed and has that “deer in head lights” and he’s sloppy throwing interceptions and fumbling the ball, Manny Diaz might have the quick hook.

Two things we don’t know: how long a leash do Diaz and offensive coordinator Dan Enos have on Williams, and if he does get pulled, who’s coming in the game? Although Williams was named the starting quarterback, the battle for who will back him up is still very much in the air.

Perry couldn’t wrestle the job away from Malik Rozier last season and Tate Martell has limitations as a passer. Martell has been practicing at wide receiver– there might be some sub-packages in place for him. When Martell wasn’t doing mop up duty at Ohio State, he was involved in a lot of sub-packages on short-yardage downs and on the goal line mostly as a runner.

With him practicing at receiver, it’s not out of the realm of possibility they use him for some jet-sweep stuff, or even on the perimeter as a decoy just to give the Gators a look they haven’t seen before. Even if it’s Perry backing up Williams, expect Martell to see action no matter what.
