Florida football outlasted Miami in a wild, yet sloppy game. How might Gator Nation and fans of The “U” completely overreact on Sunday?

Every fan of every team lives with every game. All fans have the same thing in common; they overreact when their team loses, or doesn’t play as well as they think their squad should play.

Here are three complete overreactions you might see after the Miami vs. Florida season opener.

3. Tate Martell should start the next game for Miami

Consider this if you want Tate Martell to start in place of Jarren Williams: He had as many starts as Williams coming into this game. Williams’ previous experience was against Savannah State, and Martell’s came against Rutgers. So, Martell is as unproven as Williams.

It’s difficult to gauge whether or not Martell would have fared better than Williams because Miami’s offensive line play was abysmal, and that’s being generous. They had two freshmen — one true freshman, one redshirt — playing tackle against two experienced defensive ends. There were a couple of plays the Gators got to him with three players.

It doesn’t matter how well you can move, and Williams showed he can move and escape, when the linemen are in your face as soon as the ball is snapped.

Peel back the layers of Wiliams’ performance and you find a young man who was accurate when he has time, showed composure when faced with adversity, and played tremendously tough under tough circumstances.

Did Jarren make some poor decicions with the football? He absolutely did. There were too many times he held the ball and took sacks instead of throwing the ball away. He’s a redshirt freshman, and he played just like a redshirt freshman. Give him some time, he’ll be OK.
