Ohio State Football: 3 takeaways from Justin Fields’ debut vs. FAU
3. Justin Fields made the right decision
The amount of players entering the transfer portal has continued to grow tremendously over the past few years but Justin Fields was one of the most notable players to transfer this offseason.
As a true freshman at Georgia, Fields saw a fair amount of playing time early in the 2018 season. However, as the year progressed, Kirby Smart indicated that Jake Fromm was going to be the outright leader and starting quarterback for the Georgia Bulldogs. Furthermore, Fromm still had one year left to play at Georgia before he could head to the NFL.
Naturally, this discouraged the talented freshman but he ended up with the Buckeyes.
Fields highlighted the true nature of his passing and running abilities very early on in the game. On the opening drive, he broke loose for a 51-yard rushing touchdown and in just over five short minutes following this rushing touchdown, Fields threw for three more touchdowns.
The Buckeyes look to have a bright future with Fields under center.
