Florida football made its 2019 debut in The Swamp against UT Martin. Here are the biggest takeaways from the Gators win over the Skyhawks.

In what was an expected result, Florida took care of business against the UT Martin Skyhawks winning by a score of 45-0.

After falling three spots in the rankings following their unimpressive win against Miami in week one and a bye in week two, the Gators had motivation to prove they’re deserving of their preseason top-ten ranking. Though they won’t rise in the ranking because of this week’s win, the Gators will gain confidence heading into the meat of their schedule – and Kentucky next week.

Florida cleaned up the mistakes that plagued them against Miami. After committing four turnovers against the Hurricanes, the Gators protected the ball and didn’t turn the ball over against UT Martin. Also, after a sloppy, penalty-mired game in Week 1, the offense and defense committed fewer penalties. Additionally, the defense tackled solidly, improving what was a subpar tackling effort against Miami.

Plus, it doesn’t hurt to pitch a shutout, no matter how weak the opponent.

In addition to playing a sharp game, here are the top three takeaways from their Week 3 victory.
