3. Key players suffer injuries

The number one jersey was far from lucky on Saturday.

In what is every coach’s nightmare, two integral players went down with injuries in the first half and didn’t return for the second.

Kadarius Toney left the game in the first half after taking a big hit on a reception. To that point, he had caught two passes for a total of six yards. He also had one rush for zero yards.

A little later in the half, C.J. Henderson left the game limping after defending a deep pass. Earlier in the game he had nearly picked off a pass on another deep ball.

Neither player returned in the second half.

Obviously, any injury is concerning, but losing either or both Toney and Henderson would be a huge blow to this Gator team.

The coaches made a concerted effort to get Toney the ball early and often in the UT Martin game, and losing him before the Kentucky game would be a difficult pill to swallow.

Same goes for Henderson. In an already thin secondary, the Gators can ill afford to lose their best player not only in the secondary, but also on the entire defense.

The seriousness of the injuries is unknown, but more information should come early next week.
