Ohio State Football: 3 takeaways from Buckeyes’ win over Cincinnati
Ohio State football cruised to another dominant home win over the Cincinnati Bearcats. Can anyone stop this offense led by Justin Fields?
Both Cincinnati and Ohio State got off to good starts to their 2019 seasons by winning their Week 1 games. The Cincinnati Bearcats beat UCLA, 24-14, at home. In Ohio State’s first game, they dominated the Florida Atlantic Owls, 45-21.
In the Buckeyes’ matchup against FAU, Justin Fields and the offense got off to a fast start. This week was no different.
By halftime, Fields had both a passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown, and Ohio State was up, 28-0. At the end of the third quarter, the Bearcats had a legitimate scoring chance inside the Ohio State 10-yard line. However, Cincinnati quarterback Desmond Ridder ruined that opportunity when he was intercepted by the Buckeye linebacker, Tuf Borland.
The game was completely one-sided as the Buckeyes ran away with a win over the Group of Five’s top New Year’s Six hopeful not named UCF.
Ohio State, on the other hand, looked like a playoff team and Fields might just be what the doctor ordered for the Buckeye offense in the post-Dwayne Haskins era.
Let’s take a look at what else we learned from this Week 2 matchup.
