5. Hawaii takes Washington’s spot in the rankings

Coach Chris Petersen’s Washington Huskies have been the worst “good” team over the past two seasons and Hawaii is ready to expose them. In 2018, the Huskies dropped games to Auburn, Oregon, California and Ohio State. These are very tough teams, and Washington did win the Pac-12 Conference Championship Game, but their wins just aren’t very impressive.

If you exclude the North Texas game last year, the Huskies winning margin was barely over 11 points. For a “top-10 team” that plays in a weak Pac-12, there should be many victories of over two or three touchdowns.

Since the start of the 2019 season, Washington has slowly fell to a No. 23 ranking, and rightly so. But frankly, this is still too high. The Huskies embarrassingly loss to Cal, 20-19, at home in Week 2. Still, they are heavy favorites against the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors this upcoming Saturday.

Under the leadership of Cole McDonald, the Rainbow Warriors are going to run-and-shoot the Huskies out of the stadium. With an improvement to a 3-0 record, which includes three wins over Pac-12 teams, Hawaii will make their way into the Top 25 as Washington exits.
