2. Brock Purdy continues to lead Big 12 in passing

There’s a 10-letter name who leads the Big 12 in passing and no, it’s not Jalen Hurts. Would you have believed me, without looking at the numbers, if I told you that Brock Purdy, not Hurts, leads the Big 12 in passing through one month of play? Probably not, right?

Well, expect that to continue through October.

Purdy was a breakout player a season ago as a true freshman, passing for over 2,200 yards as he took over for Kyle Kempt after an injury. No one expected his time to come so soon, but he wasn’t afraid of the spotlight and that strong play has carried over into his sophomore season. He’s currently first in the conference with 1,331 passing yards and eight touchdowns.

To top it all off, he’s completing 69 percent of his throws and looks like one of the most reliable quarterbacks in the nation.

Hurts might be the talk of college football through one month, but Purdy is quietly putting up big numbers and that will continue. He’s going to remain No. 1 in the conference in passing yards through October.
