Florida football pulled away at The Swamp to win in a battle of top-10 SEC programs against Auburn. Here is what we learned about the Gators.

Florida came in with the lower ranking in their SEC showdown against No. 7 Auburn, but the No. 10 Gators came out the victors in their 24-13 victory over the Tigers at the Swamp in Gainesville. The win put the Gators undefeated at the midpoint of their regular season for the first time since 2006, and they are quickly pushing their way into the discussion of teams playing their way into the College Football Playoff discussion.

Auburn came into the contest with two wins over Top 25 teams, but they couldn’t make it three in a row on their trip eastward. As a result, Gus Malzahn’s team heads back to the Plains with their first blemish of the season on their record. It isn’t going to push them far down the poll to lose to another top-10 team, but they might fall outside that threshold this week when the AP voters release their next set of rankings.

The result will leave Auburn fans disappointed, but a New Year’s Six spot is still in reach. But Dan Mullen’s team has even bigger goals still on the table, after a 6-0 start. With a trip to Baton Rouge to face LSU looming on the schedule next weekend, what can the Gators take away from a huge SEC victory over this week’s battle against the Tigers?
