3. Ohio State playoff bound?

No, not yet. The Ohio State Buckeyes look absolutely unstoppable. However, there are still a few reasons to not jump ahead too early and say definitively that they’re a lock to make the College Football Playoff.

First, just based on this game, there should be serious doubts about the Buckeyes’ defense. If it weren’t for their turnovers (which weren’t really forced by Ohio State), the Spartans could have easily had three scores in just the first half. Given that Michigan State’s offense is below average for a Big Ten team, this should worry Ohio State.

Speaking of other Big Ten offenses, the Buckeyes still have to play No. 8 Wisconsin, No. 12 Penn State, and No. 19 Michigan. All three of these teams won this week and will each likely improve their positions in the polls.

Finally, even if we assume Ohio State wins the rest of their games, they will likely be forced to play Wisconsin again in the Big Ten Championship Game. Beating any team twice in the same season is incredibly difficult no matter the sport nor level of play.
