Florida football is coming off of a tough loss to LSU. What can they prove this week against the South Carolina Gamecocks?

Florida football has proven that they are a force to be reckoned with in the SEC. Despite losing on the road to LSU, the competitiveness they showed proves that they are still in the race for the SEC championship. They are currently second in the standings behind Missouri, but the Tigers have all of their tough games ahead of them.

The main reason the Gators still feel confident is because of Georgia’s recent loss to South Carolina. In that game, the Bulldogs looked lifeless. They had every chance to avoid the upset, and they just couldn’t deliver on any level. With the Gators controlling their own destiny, they believe they can beat Missouri and Georgia to make it to the SEC Championship.

However, their dreams don’t end in the division. They want to go to the College Football Playoff. If they lose any game, their hopes of making it are incredibly low. Even with their tough strength of schedule, the committee just doesn’t let two-loss teams in the College Football Playoff.

All of this culminates in a game this Saturday against South Carolina. The Gamecocks are coming off of an emotional win on the road against Georgia, and they will be at home for this one. Some believe that the Gamecocks can’t rebound from an emotional win against a sound team, but others argue that they proved against Georgia that they are a force to be reckoned with in the division.

So, what can the Gators prove against the Gamecocks? One thing they would like to show is that they can rebound from that LSU loss. Marquee matchups like that tend to keep teams from playing well in following weeks. You get all this momentum and hype one Saturday, and you come off that high the week after. Look for the Gators to go against the grain and avoid this.

They would also like to establish themselves as the best team in the SEC East. Beating South Carolina on the road the week after they beat Georgia in Athens would be a statement, and Florida would like to be making it.

Above all, Florida just needs to get healthy. I think they have the talent to beat South Carolina, but they need to get their defensive line back to full strength if they want to beat Georgia down the road.

This will be a statement game for Florida football, and I think the fans will like the statement they’re going to make.
