1. Offense doesn’t have an identity
Gus Malzahn’s team doesn’t have an identity on the offensive side of the ball. We already know what we’re getting from the Tigers on defense. They play tough, physical football in the trenches and are solid against the pass, but the offense can never seem to figure things out.
It’s clear that the coaching staff doesn’t have a ton of trust in Bo Nix’s arm as he passed it just a handful of times but it didn’t matter as the Tigers were up 17-0 before the Razorbacks could even take a breath. The game was already out of reach in the first half, so he didn’t need to put the ball up and potentially lead to turnovers.
So are the Tigers going to be a ground-and-pound team? It didn’t seem like they were overly dedicated to the run, but they also didn’t run as many plays as Arkansas.
Auburn did rush for over 200 yards on the day and Kam Martin had himself a nice game while Nix even rushed one in for a score, but Auburn doesn’t have a clear identity on offense and that might be a problem at this point in the year.
If the staff doesn’t trust Nix to throw against Arkansas, what’s going to happen when the Tigers play Alabama?
