LSU Football: 3 takeaways from dominant win at Mississippi State
1. Joe Burrow is becoming the Heisman front-runner
Besides accidentally mooning America, Joe Burrow had one heck of a game to follow up another Heisman-caliber performance against Florida last week.
Burrow continued to make his case for the Heisman Trophy and you could argue he is becoming the nation’s front-runner, especially after breaking the school’s single-season touchdown passes record through just seven games — yes, you read that correctly. He is playing the best football of his career.
As previously stated, he has some elite targets to get the ball to, but they aren’t the sole reason for all of his success. He’s reading defenses well, fitting the ball into tight spaces and extending plays with his legs and pocket awareness.
Burrow finished the game with 327 yards and four touchdowns on 25-of-32 completions. He now has 29 touchdown passes on the season with only three interceptions and his accuracy is impressive as well.
The LSU gunslinger might be 1A or 1B or 1C with Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa for the Heisman Trophy right now.
