Arizona State Football: 3 takeaways from loss to Utah in Week 8
By Dana Becker
3. Jayden Daniels finally looked like a freshman
Since taking over controls of the Arizona State offense, Jayden Daniels has played like anything but a freshman. The Utah defense, though, made him look more like a high school newcomer than anything else.
Daniels completed just 4-of-18 passes, averaging 1.4 yards per pass with an interception. Coming into the Top 25 matchup, he had thrown for over 300 yards and completed 58 percent of his passes against ranked teams.
Not this time. Not against the Utes.
Harassed and scrambling for his life much of the night -p or at least when he wasn’t missing receivers — Daniels showed signs of weakness. The interception was his first of the season and he was sacked three times.
But this is still Daniels’ team and he will have a chance to redeem himself when the Sun Devils look to bounce back at UCLA next week.
