SMU has almost been completely flawless through the first seven games of the season. Winning each of these games and averaging over 44 points a game, the Mustangs have a lot to be proud of.

They still face a tough road ahead having to go on the road to Memphis and Navy this year. While playing the Houston Cougars this weekend, this may not be a game that they had circled on their schedule.

Houston has gone through a ton of changes in the past three weeks. Their star quarterback has redshirted to preserve one more year of eligibility and multiple defensive players have done the same. They have used the rule in their favor and Head Coach Dana Holgorsen has accepted this.

Even with the team not at full strength, the Houston Cougars have a ton of talent on both sides of the ball. With SMU having to go to Memphis next week, the same rules apply to the Cougars that this may be a game they are overlooking and slip up on the road.
