2. Breece Hall has been a revelation

Through the first month of the season, Iowa State had a problem in the backfield. No one was stepping up to take over the No. 1 job and freshman Breece Hall has finally done that in October, living up to the elevated hype he had out of high school.

Hall has put together back-to-back 100-yard games since winning the starting job and he looked solid yet again versus the Cowboys.

Iowa State no longer has to worry about the running back position and that’s thanks to the emergence of Hall. He looks like a future star at the position and could be one of the best rushers in the Big 12 by the end of the season. No one expected him to break out almost overnight after a quiet first month, but he’s done just that.

The freshman finished the game with 76 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries, including the game-tying score with 9:06 left, and continues to take the pressure off Brock Purdy who has been spectacular this season.
