Texas A&M Football: 3 takeaways from big win over Mississippi State

1. With all these young guys, A&M has a bright future
I want to highlight two guys from this game that really show that Texas A&M has a lot to look forward to. Freshman receiver Ainais Smith isn’t on that list this week, but he has been a huge player so far this year and has shown the world that he was absolutely worth the pick up in last year’s class.
This week though, it was running back Isaiah Spiller and tight end Jalen Wydermyer. Both guys scored and both showed toughness that this team needs to compete in the SEC. Spiller didn’t go over 100 yards as Kylin Hill did for Mississippi State, mostly because his quarterback was also successfully running the ball so he wasn’t required to do as much. However, he did plenty with the carries he got.
Tight end Jalen Wydermyer had a 52-yard touchdown in which he would not be denied. He is looking to replace Jace Sternberger and with the pick up of Baylor Cupp also in the 2019 freshman class, many overlooked him. However, with Cupp’s injury Wydermyer gets the chance to shine and he has done just that. Add in Cupp next year? That will be a deadly combo for Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies.
